What
is Canadian
Telework Day?
Canadian
Telework Day is a
nation-wide telework education
and public awareness campaign. As an
Internet-based collection of telework
initiatives and supporters, there is no
physical conference or gathering. As with Telework
Day '98, which was an unqualified success,
Canadian Telework Day '99 will be endorsed and supported by many
business and political leaders as well as other
well-known figures from both the public and the
private sector. There is every reason to believe that this
year's
event will be even better than last year's. Canadian Telework Day
is founded and sponsored by the The
Canadian Telework Association.
When
is Canadian Telework Day?
Canadian Telework
Day '99 is this October 27, a date
chosen for several reasons. First, we wanted
to coordinate our Day with Telework
America, a North America-wide program of
public awareness and education, which this year
is also being held on Oct. 27. Also, Oct
27 is just prior European
Telework Week 99 which runs from Nov. 1 to
8. Holding
Canadian Telework Day on Oct 27 gives us the
opportunity to publicize and promote our plans
internationally. The resultant publicity should
generate more attention on our efforts and
events, and help us better promote the Canadian
telework agenda.
Objectives
The objective of
telework day are to raise
Canadian awareness and provide
information on benefits of telework,
telecommuting and new officing arrangements;
to encourage more Canadians and their
organizations to telework; and to increase the Canadian Telework Association's
membership base. By
participation in the program, employers and
individuals can learn about and experience the
benefits of telework. Please join us. With your
support, we hope to make it an annual affair.
Who
is it for?
Telework
Day is for anyone interested in telework
- from existing or future teleworkers, their
managers, and Canadian business and government
leaders - and who feel this new way of working
holds the potential to fundamentally affect our
economy, our cities, our air, our work and
families, our transportation systems, and so on.
