Newly unemployed from Oshawa sees great potential: Presently, I am unemployed. I am 42 years old and this is the first time I've been without a job since I was 17. I have just joined INTERCONNECTS and I am looking into "teleworking"...it gets more intriguing, the more I read about it. What a fantastic concept...the benefits are endless - children won't be carted off to strangers anymore - the highways will be less congested - less stress related illnesses and I'll bet "absenteeism" will be almost non-existent - happy, enthusiastic, satisfied employees - I'm not a financial expert but I'll bet dollars will be saved in many ways as well, for both employee and employer. I love the computer, I love being on the computer - why not make money doing what I love instead of "dreading" the start of each new day. I am so excited about this right now, I want to sign up for EVERY job I see posted for working at home...I just can't wait to get started and I'll be thrilled to keep you informed of my "success". Linda Symonds, Oshawa

Project Manager experiences many benefits from telework. I just joined Bell Nexxia, but was previous a teleworker with NCR Canada where we were referred to as Virtual office workers. I enjoyed the opportunity of better balancing the work/life see-saw. The saving on travel time (2.5 hours per day) was immediate. The work day becomes longer but non-contiguous (typically 7am through to 10pm) while I utilize blocks of time during that period for personal tasks. Project management lends itself well to teleworking as most Project team resources are by nature cross-functional and geographically diverse. The improvements in Telecommunications tools (phone, pager, cellular, teleconferencing), reduced cost/increased reliability of home office equipment and the impact of the Internet (Collaboration, practical Knowledge collection and distribution systems, electronic mail) enables levels of service and productivity comparable to the traditional office worker. Peter Paul, Project Manager, Bell Nexia

Canadian living in US seeks telework to overcome visa restrictions: "I am a Canadian citizen, living in the US right now, because my husband is working here under a TN visa. Because it is so difficult for me to get a different visa than the non-working one I have now, I am investigating the idea of teleworking for a Canadian company." Marla Gerein, Colorado Springs, CO.
