Tonemonsters
from yesteryear!
This 'mini shrine' is
dedicated to the awesome craftsmanship and sound of vintage
Ibanez Artist solid body guitars made from the late 70s to the early
80s. Please use the left-hand border to navigate your way around.
The site's content comes partly from my own experience —owning
several of these vintage guitars; from brochures, and from a wide variety of Internet resources, where I
managed to find great pictures and content.
Vintage Ibanez Artist guitars reflect the absolute best in Japanese
craftsmanship. Some have referred to them as 'tonemonsters',
based on their full rich sounds, and ability to sustain till the
cows come home! Though the Artist line was based on the Gibson
Les Paul, it is every bit as good, if not superior, in
every key area — tone, playability, quality craftsmanship,
attention to detail, materials and wood, styling and class.
In their day, they were sold at substantially lower prices. Used
vintage Artists are still priced lower than their American
counterparts. However, the price difference has diminishing as more
and more people have 'discovered' these fine guitars.
