July 04:
The
Metropolitan Council of Governments (Washington DC ) has
come up with a new way of counting telecommuters and that means
the number of people fitting that category has declined by 25%
It will now only include workers who
spend the entire day teleworking or using a satellite center as
a part time office in the count. Sales and repair people,
consultants and other professionals who were once included among
the estimated 400,000 people who were classified as
telecommuters no longer make the cut. About 11% of the people
employed in the National-Capital area are regular telecommuters,
including roughly 12% of the federal work force. |
