Telework
and Canadian cities and communities |
|
Though lagging
behind American and European counterparts, some Canadian communities are beginning to
understand the positive implications of telework on their
operations. Aside from the obvious transportation and environmental
benefits of telework, there are many other benefits. For example, telework can help reduce daytime break-ins and other crimes.
It can also reduce problems associated with the care of latch
key kids and elders. It can reduce wear and tear on
roadways, increase job opportunities for
disabled
& mobility restricted, and can allow work to continue
during emergencies (eg, snow & ice storms, medical scares, etc).
Telework can also help economic development
activity helping communities to compete with larger centers in the
recruitment and retention of top talent.
