About Bob Fortier

Bob Fortier is President of InnoVisions Canada (http://www.ivc.ca), a telework and flexible work consulting organization. With over 22 years of focused experience with telework, he is considered a leading Canadian expert in this field. He is also the founder and President of the Canadian Telework Association, a non-profit, telework-promoting organization.

In 1989, he spent three years developing and implementing a telework program for the Canadian federal government. Offered to over 220,000 federal employees, it remains one of Canada's largest telework programs. For this achievement, he received several awards including from the Governor General and from two federal Cabinet Ministers.

Since then he has developed and implemented several enterprise-wide flexible work programs — each designed to save costs, time and jobs, while helping employees balance their work and personal lives. He is also well-versed in strategies to help organizations maintain and improve employee morale.

Bob Fortier works from his home office situated in a comfortable country setting in Manotick, a suburb of Ottawa, Ontario.

For some time he wrote a work-at-home column which appeared in all Sun Media newspapers across Canada, and which was read by some 3 million readers each month. He has also appeared in the media over 800 times, including the Jane Hawtin Show, ROBtv, Canada AM, CTV, CJOH-TV, Global TV, CBO Morning radio, CBC-TV, CBO-FT; and in many major magazines (e,g. MacLean's Magazine, the Canadian Bar Association Magazine); as well as in most major North American daily newspapers including The San Francisco Examiner, The Washington Post, The National Post, The Boston Globe, The Ottawa Citizen, The Globe and Mail, The Sun, The Calgary Herald, The Financial Post, etc.

He has presented, including keynotes, at dozens of events throughout North America and Europe, and has lectured at graduate university-level programs. On the consulting side, his clients include: Transport Canada; Telus; The City of Calgary; Sun Media; The Government of Spain; Telework America; Bell Canada; Bank of Canada; Department of Justice; TelecommuteCT (Connecticut); The Ontario Government; Mitel; City of Nepean; Work & Family Connection, Inc; Treasury Board Secretariat of Canada; CEFRIO; The Canadian Intellectual Property Office; IPMA Canada; the Portuguese Association for Telework Development; the Institute for Professionals in Taxation; Health Canada; Public Works and Government Services Canada; the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada; etc.

Bob is a former board member of: the US-based International Telework Association & Council (ITAC), and of the International Personnel Management Association (Ottawa Chapter (with which he holds a professional certification) . These roles reflected his strong consulting and project-management background, including some 25 years experience in HR (including labour-management issues and flexible work arrangements).

Mr. Fortier is a graduate of Carleton University, has studied at University of Ottawa Law School, and speaks English and French. He can be reached at (613) 692-0566 or by email at bobf@ivc.ca
